Happy Easter

We had some fun family time this weekend!
My Mother-in-Law stayed the weekend with us for Easter and I got some more shots of her and Teagen together.

 

Our church had 3 Saturday services since they get so crowded with guests on Sundays, so went to an afternoon Saturday service. The Easter sermon was great! I really love my church, I'm so glad we're going regularly again!

Today we all went to my parents' house. The kids had an Easter egg hunt, and even Sammie the dog joined in! 

Here's Joe hiding eggs. His sneakers were dirty from fishing, so he had to wear his only other pair of shoes that he had with him!

I'm almost done reading The Birth House by Ami McKay and I've fallen into the book. It's so good, I didn't want to put it down. I just have the last chapter left, but I haven't read it because I don't want it to be over, is that weird?

I watched the season finale of Parenthood last night. It was so good! I haven't watched a weekly drama in a while, since I stopped watching Grey's Anatomy a few years ago. I hope Parenthood is coming back next year...

Real life parenting is difficult. Our handful of a 2 year old turned into a independent 3 year old who wants his own way all the time. I bought a parenting book at church and we're hoping it gives us some pointers. Sometimes, he's the sweetest little guy, and sometimes we wonder how other people do it with more that one child.

I'm looking forward to Easter. Hanging out with my family always makes me happy. I'm looking forward to seeing how much Baby Olivia has grown in the past couple of weeks. I really want to get my camera out too, it's been too long!

I have been taking a lot of photos with my iPhone though :)

 

teagen's first soccer game

We've been looking forward to Teagen playing soccer for a long time now, well ever since he turned 2. He's also been looking forward to playing soccer on a team for a while. So, you can imagine the all around excitement when we were finally able to sign him up and he was put on a team.

The week leading up to his first game, soccer was all he wanted to play. Finally, the Saturday arrives and we head out to the field all pumped up. Teagen meets the Coach and his teammates, gets his jersey (#47) and starts running around the field. Everything looks great!

And then, things start going down hill a little. At this point, the game hasn't started yet, they're still just practicing.

He ended up crawling out the bottom of the net and running over to me for some Gatorade. 

So, the game starts and we're expecting some action.

This was the action we got between Teagen running over to sit with us because he didn't feel like playing or because he wanted more Gatorade. 

Finally, the ball made it's over to him and he got involved!

The action was short lived, but I was so glad he finally played and had fun!

We're all looking forward to tomorrow's game and I hope Teagen is more interested in playing soccer than climbing the goal or drinking Gatorade!

The exciting news in our life is the birth of my neice, my sister's wedding and Teagen playing soccer:

Here's a photo of my new niece Olivia. I got to babysit her a couple of weekends ago and I loved it! I forgot what it was like having a newborn around.

busy busy busy

I've really neglected my poor blog! Life has been so busy lately, I haven't found the time, or energy at the end of a busy day, to update. 

This is what has been going on in our lives:

Teagen turned 3 years old! I cannot believe how much time has gone by since he was a tiny little newborn. He has turned into a very independent, funny, smart, thoughtful, imaginative little boy! Right now, he is really into dinosaurs, Dino Dan (Nick Jr) and Dinosaur Train (PBS) helped him find his new obsession. Legos, Play Doh, and Hot Wheels are all about even for his 2nd obsession! He's such a rough and tough little boy. Even though he tries my patience often, I thank God for him everyday!

My little sister, Laura Ashley, graduated college with a Bachelors in Business Administration. I really can't believe she is old enough to have a college degree and to be engaged! I remember holding her and helping her fall asleep (we shared a room) when she was a toddler and I was about 8 years old. Laura is the first person in our family to graduate from college! I am so proud of her and inspired by her!

I've also been trying to keep up with December Daily. It's been tough! I've enjoyed looking at the pages that I have completed though. I plan on catching up soon (maybe tomorrow). I bought some more photo ink and I'm ready to print some pics! 

I've also decided to try Becky Higgin's Project Life for 2011. I think this may be an easier way to capture our everyday life plus the highlights.  I also think I'll be able to keep up with it :)

I'm looking forward to Christmas and New Year's and a few days of relaxation here and there!
